I'm really excited to have been accepted to the Florida Craftsman Show. It's going to be in downtown St. Petersburg, FL on Sat., Nov 20 and Sun., Nov. 21. I've been changing up my designs a little as my eye for design has changed. It's fun to see how it's evolving!

Indulge Your Shelf: True Victorian style: black glass buttons
Indulge Your Shelf: True Victorian style: black glass buttons
Love your comments on the black glass buttons. I became so fascinated with antique Victorian buttons (of all kinds, not just black glass) that I started a business using them. The buttons are custom-set in sterling silver clasps and then I string them with gemstones or fresh water pearls. I would love to have your thoughts and comments on my jewelry. Check out my website!!

Antique Button Jewelry - A Story
The story about this button is that it was manufactured in England around 1890. It is the picture of a girl holding an umbrella. She is made of stamped brass and is overlaid on a celluloid backing. (Celluloid is made of vegetable base.)

It's off and running!
http://www.jewelrywithapast.biz/ Yesterday I sold 7 pieces of jewelry. It was all impulse buying and the ladies were so excited about it. Very gratifying! I've updated my website and will be adding new things soon. Check it out. http://www.jewelrywithapast.biz/

How I arrived at this day
I’m not the type of person who likes the world to know all about me. But I find that I’m put into this position because I have found a passion and want to sell things so that I can continue to do what I love. So, one of those things is to write a blog.
I had been in corporate American for my entire life and revered the time there. But I found that corporate American didn’t want me (after a certain age, that is). I was looking for something to do that could be transportable and found the world of antique buttons. The minute I set my eyes on them, I was hooked. I couldn’t believe the beauty and variety of them. Each one was a miniature piece of art! All were made of real materials, like brass, pearl, enamel, pewter and all had been carefully designed with classical designs, pictures, cityscapes, really anything that the mind could dream up!
So, I was hooked. I impulsively bought seven and had made an investment. I didn’t want to collect them, as some people do. I wanted to sell them so that I could search for more. What to do with these buttons? I took them home and started to play around with them. I decided to make jewelry out of them. Little did I know that everyone in America seems to be making jewelry these days. But I forged ahead because I was passionate about them, my newfound creativity, and my desire to create jewelry, using a piece of history, that is really special and unique.
I’ll share with you the details of the trials and tribulations, up's and downs, that I have gone through to get to today in another blog. Today, I want to celebrate because I launched my website, http://www.jewelrywithapast.biz/, and I am so excited about it. I’d love to hear your thoughts and input. So please take a look and let me know what you think.
